Shravana Poornima & VaraLakshmi Vratam - Aug 8th, Friday
Shravana Poornima is considered very sacred
and auspicious day. The day of Shravana
Poornima is not only important from
religious point of view but is also important
for practical reasons. The month of Sravana
is considered the month of worship of lord
Shiva. The special worship of lord Shiva is
done in the month of Sawan. This is a special
day for performing Sri Satyanarayana Vrat
Katha.
The Hindu festival going by the name ‘Vara Lakshmi Vratha’ is
celebrated on the Friday before the full moon in the months of
July-August (Sravana) all over the globe mostly by married
Hindu women with great fervor, devotion and sanctity. Varalakshmi Vrata is a festival to propitiate the
goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu, one of the Hindu Trinity. Varalakshmi is one who grants boons (Varam).
